The two main classifications of software that all programs fit under are__

1.      System software.
2.      Application software.



System Software:System software is a type of computer program that is designed to run a computer’s hardware and application programs. If we think of the computer system as a layered model, the system software is the interface between the hardware and user applications.
The operating system (OS) is the best-known example of system software. The OS manages all the other programs in a computer.

Application software: An application Software is a computer program designed to perform a group of coordinated functions, tasks, or activities for the benefit of the user.

Examples of an application include a word processor, a spreadsheet, an accounting application, a web browser, a media player, an aeronautical flight simulator, a console game or a photo editor.
